What is filtered out of the water?

Our filter is independently tested to NSF 42 Standard for the reductions of Chlorine and particulate which includes:

  • Removal of Chlorine (Taste & Odor) - A chlorine reduction claim means the system reduces the concentration of chlorine in the water. The current NSF 42 Standard is 50% or greater reduction. The Hydros Multi FilterTM reduces chlorine by over 90% for a volume of 40 gallons. *For best results do not filter more than 5 gallon a day.
  • Removal of Sediment - A performance claim for Particulate removal means the system removes sediment of a certain size based on the following classes: Unlike Other Filtering Bottles – The Hydros Multi Filter removes Particulate at Class 1 - NSF 42 Levels.

Which means it removes particulate upto  100x smaller than the leading filtering bottle rated at Class VI.

Class I - Reduces 85% of particles 0.5 to < 1 microns in size

Class II - Reduces 85% of particles 1 to < 5 microns in size

Class III - Reduces 85% of particles 5 to < 15 microns in size

Class IV - Reduces 85% of particles 15 to < 30 microns in size

Class V - Reduces 85% of particles 30 to < 50 microns in size

Class VI - Reduces 85% of particles equal to or greater than 50 microns in size

NOTE: The Hydros Multi FilterTM is not intended to purify water. Do not use with water that is microbiologically unsafe or of unknown quality with adequate disinfection before or after the system. Individuals requiring water of special microbiological purity should follow the advice of their doctor. The contaminants or other substances reduced or removed by this water treatment device may not necessarily be in all users' water.

See Performance Sheets below for all details:

The system has been tested according to NSF/ANSI 42 for reduction of substances listed. The concentration of each substance listed when entering the filtering system was reduced to a concentration of less than the permissible limit for water leaving the system, as specified in NSF/ANSI 42.

Testing was performed under standard laboratory conditions at a flow rate of 0.5 gallons/minute. The substances removed or reduced by this water treatment device are not necessarily in all users' water. Filter performance may vary based on local water conditions.

The Hydros Bottle Water Filtration system has been independently tested by Torrent Labs (accredited by the ANSI-ASQ National Accreditation Board) against NSF/ANSI Standard 42 for the reduction of chlorine (taste and odor) and particulate reduction (Class 1).

Do I need to buy separate filters for the bottle, slim pitcher and pitcher?

No, all Hydros vessels use the same Hydros Multi Filter and are installed in each using a similar snap in functionality into the bottom of the lid or Rocker-Cap.

What are the filters made of?

Hydros Multi Filters are made of only 100% coconut shell carbon in a BPA free casing.

Whats not in our filters?

We don't use Ion Exchange Resin or plastic micro beads that are used in some water filtration systems because they can pollute our oceans.

Want to learn more about Ion exchange resins  / plastic micro-beads ? Click Here.

How often should the filters be replaced?

We recommend changing the filter every 2 months or every 40 gallons. In day-to-day usage reaching this 40 gallon limit would be equivalent to drinking Ten - 8 Ounce glasses of water a day for 2 Months. Depending on your Hydros vessel this would mean

  • If filling 4.25+ times daily for the bottle
  • If filling 2.1+ times daily for the slim pitcher
  • If filling 1.3+ times daily for the pitcher.

What temperature limits are recommended for the filtering water?

DO NOT use with hot water or water above 32C/90F.

Also, do not freeze the vessels or the filter.

What is the best way to fill the vessels using the Hydros Multi Filter?

Find Your Flow – After only a few uses, most people will find that just right flow rate for optimal fast-flo filtration is somewhere about 1 oz. per second. If your filter seems like it has slowed down, try shaking a little and simply placing back in any Hydros vessel.

Is it normal for black specs to be seen in my filtered water the first few fills?

Yes, these are perfectly safe specs of the 100% coconut shell carbon flowing out of the filter. You can use the first few fills to water your plants if this bothers you.

What should I do if my filter seems like it is slowing down?

Simply, remove it, shake a few times and re-install.

How do you set up and use the vessel?

1. Remove filter & hand-wash vessel and cap/lid with mild soap and rinse well.

2. Flush filter with cold water for 15 seconds. Carbon dust flush is normal – wipe off any dust residue.

3. Snap filter into any Hydros vessel.

4. Screw cap/lid back on vessel firmly and fill with cold water at a flow of about 1 ounce per second – carbon dust and slower flow is normal first few fills – you can discard or use to water plants.

5. Filter replacement is essential for product to perform as represented – Replace your filter every 2 months or 40 gallons. For best results filter no more than 5 gallons daily.

Not intended for use with any beverages other than water.

How do you clean the vessel?

Always remove the filter before cleaning.

Only the bottle can be washed in the dishwasher on the top rack or hand washed with mild soap.

The Slim Pitcher and Pitcher are not dishwasher-safe and should be hand-washed using mild soap. Our cleaning brush makes clean-up easy.

The Rocker-Cap and Lid and all its components should be hand-washed periodically for best results.

DO NOT wash filter.

What is the best way to store the vessel when not in use?

Empty water from Hydros bottle before storing. Avoid leaving in warm environments for long periods of time and loosen cap from the bottle to prevent odors.

It is recommended to store your Hydros system in the refrigerator to have access to cold, great tasting water. If you store your Hydros system outside the refrigerator, we recommend that you keep in a cool place and out of the sunlight. Replace any filtered water that has been sitting for several days.

What materials are used for the Hydros vessels and cap/lids?

Plastic Hydros vessels, filters, and components are all made from BPA-FREE materials and components.

Glass Hydros vessels are made from lightweight and durable borosilicate glass.

What are the dimensions of the vessels and accessories?
